Seeds—lots of Seeds!

So, we have a lot of seeds. They used to be stored in this box on the right, which worked fine until we obtained even more seeds in the last year and they just plumb won’t fit in there any longer! I dumped out what was in the file box on the left (craft junk…it can get another place) and switched the seeds into the file box. (Say hi to Leo in the background!)

I *think* I bought baseball card sheets for binders…I don’t remember as I bought them back in Florida. They work really well, better for the smaller seed packages, but still do their job. They used to be semi-alphabetized but I didn’t take the time to do that this time, only wanting some kind of organiziation instead of floating around in miscellaneous boxes and piles.

Tomato seeds.

More tomato seeds… 😉 We love tomatoes!

I’m looking forward to starting some things from seed in the upcoming months, obtaining fresh stock too.

How do you store your seeds?

I am terrible at storing seeds- one set is in a shoebox (older seeds, plants that I either grew or didn’t go so well, misc seeds that don’t interest me) and the other set is in a latched plastic box (new seeds, seeds I sort of collect – nasturtium, sunflower, tomatoes, etc.- seeds I want to try again, etc.) I keep both OUTSIDE. Yes, I know. But when I keep them inside I don’t PLANT them. Once I go outside my feet usually get wet and I don’t want to come back in on the wood floors and get the seeds if I forget to take them out with me. So if I leave them out there, I’m likely to plant them.
