I cannot think of a time when I’m
working playing in the garden and these little legs aren’t right there behind me. He knows to put the feed in the bowl and the scratch in the dirt. He is only two, yet knows how to plant seeds. When I need that extra hand to carry in/out a few things, he goes ahead and gives me two. I bought him a shovel a few weeks ago. It not a hand shovel, but a “life size” kids shovel. He used it to load up mulch in the wheelbarrow and even helped dig some of the hugelkultur I’m working on. The hens love him. They know when he is out to run up to him because he usually has something tasty in his hands. It usually something he is working on eating, but when they charge him, he freaks out, runs off, and leaves his food behind in the grass for all to enjoy.
He was even kind enough to plant kale seeds that have recently sprouted.
