My second Passiflora (I have four, total) started to bloom this week!
I wasn’t expecting it at al, to be honest- it started forming buds a while back but they are much smaller than my other in-bloom Passiflora, so I figured that I had a while left until I would see any flowers. But then I went out to garden one morning and there they were- a bunch of deep red/crimson flowers. They are much smaller than my first Passiflora, but the color is striking.I tried to take some decent photos but the color vibrated so much that these were the best I could get.
I love love love surprises in the garden, I really do. Flowers are so simple, such a basic part of gardening, but every time a plant flowers for the first time, it takes my breath away. And the novelty never wears off because the plants are constantly changing- every day there’s something new to notice, to discover.
