Expansion and remodel.

Sorry for the absence last week. Tuesday my son busted his lip open and a trip to the ER ensued and then Wednesday was Halloween and trick-or-treating ensued.

Earlier this year, my wife mentioned about expanding the garden. It’s not much of an expansion, but at at around 10ft at the widest point, it will feel like a lot. I’ve already started removing a few of the beds and clearing things out.

In a few weeks my wife is taking the kids down to see my sister for the weekend, which makes the perfect time to install a new fence along the expansion line, and with that build a spot to plant the 50 strawberry plants on order. I haven’t decided on whether to go with a vertical PVC hanging style or something more traditional. We’ll see how that goes.

In the recent weeks I’ve come to learn that 3 houses on my street block have began to raise chickens. Mainly, the two houses across from ours. I’ve been hesitant in the past to even think about bringing chickens onto my property due to local city ordinances. I may have to investigate further into this matter.

I think there is a certain animal herd in your house that would really enjoy the taste of chicken! If you do get them I’ll be interested to see how you keep them. I’m not quite ready for chickens, but hopefully next year we’ll be ready to get some.

I figured the reason you weren’t coming down to visit was to work in the garden.

Cool on the strawberries and expanding! I can’t believe they have chickens!!!! Wow. Yeah I would worry about a dog getting them. I can’t imagine doing that in my yard. I have to keep the dogs from barking due to neighbors complaints what would they do if I got chickens.
